Chair’s introduction
Speaker: Lyn Whitfield Managing Editor, E-Health Insider
Event theme: Following the NHS Institute for Innovation & Improvement's 2007 launch of the Productive Series - Cisco has been working on how technology can help increase NHS productivity. In particular, how ICT can release time to care and enable a productive ward, through technologies such as wireless networks, asset tracking and unified communications.
15.03 GMT
Organisation: Editor and Adviser, Royal College of Nursing, UK Clinical Domain Lead, NHS (England) Information Standards Board.
Speaker: Anne Casey RN, MSc, FRCN,
Topic: Online surveys by the Royal College of Nursing confirm that the majority of nurses welcome information and communication technology, believing it will improve continuity, care delivery and quality. Systems that are designed to support nursing work rather than simply to replace patient records have the potential to release more time to care. However, such systems must be safe, fit for purpose and fit for practice. Rigorous testing and risk management need to be part of the development and deployment life cycle of all ICT solutions.
